Founded in Geneva in 2015, working between Geneva and Berlin
RM (formerly Real Madrid) is an artist collective founded in Geneva in 2015. It deals with the mechanics of revelation in reaction to the secrecy of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and with their impact on the experience of pariahs in disguise. Alluding to irony and the use of gruesome humour, RM works around the linguistic detours employed to protect the unspoken, turning it into a tool to reclaim one’s own story.
Solo exhibitions were held at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen; Auto Italia, London; CEC Centre d’Edition Contemporaine, Geneva; Swiss Institute, New York; Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris. Recently, their work has been included in group shows held at Museo Madre, Naples; Fondazione ICA Milano; Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva; Quadriennale Roma, Rome.
RM was awarded the Swiss Art Award in 2018 and 2023.
