Susan Cianciolo / Selected films and conversation @NFQ

24 June 2019, 8pm

Via Privata Passo Pordoi 6, Milan
The first public appointment in Susan Cianciolo’s residency organised by Martina Simeti will take place on 24 June at 8 pm – with the screening of a selection of films by the artist hosted by NFQ, the space of the NERO publishing house and Fabio Quaranta in Milan.

Among the videos to be screened: Pro-Abortion; Anti-Pink (1995) and DIADAL (1997), which offer an introduction to the early years of Cianciolo’s production. In 1995, the artist founded RUN: a line of clothing produced using found or recycled garments or fabrics, assembled through a participatory approach and ample margin for improvisation, sewn together along with her entourage. In 2001, (together with Aaron Rose), for one month at the Alleged Gallery, Cianciolo opened the legendary Run Restaurant, recreated in 2017 on the occasion of the Whitney Biennial in New York. Soon gaining cult status in the art world and that of the New York avant-garde, RUN then evolved into an ‘umbrella’ which to this day brings together broader projects, staged both independently and in collaboration with other designers.
