Aboubakar Fofana (b. 1967) is a fiber artist and calligrapher. His natural mud-dyed and indigo fabrics are the result of ancient West African techniques that took him years to rediscover and formalize. He is now working to transmit these ancient traditions by means of workshops held internationally. Fofana's textiles have been exhibited at the Athens’ Documenta 14 and the 2012 exhibition titled "We face forward" held at the Manchester Art Gallery. He divides his time between Bamako and Paris.
